Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By engaging Smart Multimedia for the supply and/or installation of any multimedia, audio, navigation, or related electronic products (“the System”), the customer agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Zero Tolerance on Post-Fitment Defects
Smart Multimedia enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding defects or faults that arise after successful installation and initial operation of the System.
If the System operates correctly after installation but later develops issues, and the original vehicle system (including the head unit or factory system) experiences the same fault, the issue will be deemed vehicle-related.
In such cases:
- Smart Multimedia accepts no responsibility for diagnosis, repair, removal, or reinstallation.
- The customer remains fully liable for all associated labour and service costs should assistance be requested.
3. Product Warranty
All products carry the manufacturer’s standard warranty only.
Warranty claims are subject to bench testing, meaning the product must be removed and tested outside of the vehicle.
Warranty does not cover:
- Faults caused by vehicle electrical issues, wiring faults, CAN-bus problems, software conflicts, or vehicle-specific integration challenges.
- Any defect that cannot be replicated during bench testing.
- Labour, removal, or reinstallation costs under any circumstances.
4. Installation Warranty
Installation workmanship is covered for 30 days from the date of fitment, strictly limited to physical installation errors.
After 30 days, or once the System has functioned correctly for any extended period, any further issues will fall under the Post-Fitment Defects clause above.
5. Customer Responsibilities
The customer agrees to:
- Ensure the vehicle’s electrical system, battery, alternator, and wiring are in good working condition prior to installation.
- Acknowledge that modern vehicle electronics may cause compatibility issues beyond Smart Multimedia’s control.
- Accept that cellphone-related compatibility issues (including Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, software updates, app versions, device settings, and operating system conflicts) are not the responsibility of Smart Multimedia.
- Pay all diagnostic, removal, and labour costs if a fault is determined to be vehicle-related or if the unit functions correctly when bench-tested.
6. No Refunds on Installed Systems
Once a System has been supplied and installed, no refunds will be issued.
Returns or exchanges are at the sole discretion of Smart Multimedia and will only be considered for manufacturing defects confirmed through bench testing.
7. Payment Terms
Full payment is due immediately upon completion of installation unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Smart Multimedia reserves the right to retain the vehicle and/or System until full payment has been received.
8. Limitation of Liability
Smart Multimedia’s total liability shall not exceed the value of the products supplied.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of vehicle use
- Towing costs
- Vehicle downtime
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
10. Changes to Terms
Smart Multimedia reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time.
The version published on smartmultimedia.co.za at the time of service will apply.
